The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernandez, film en français - Rex est un vieil homme qui est amer de ne jamais devenir célèbre et ayant vécu une vie sans aucun sens. Après avoir subi un accident vasculaire cérébral, il se retrouve dans une maison de soins infirmiers de personnel par des immigrants d'Amérique latine. Rebutés par la situation, il se concentre son énergie sur de sortir, ce qui le place en contradiction avec les travailleurs latino-américains. Cependant, leur relation prend un nouveau sens quand on découvre qu'il a secoué une fois les mains avec Vicente Fernandez, une chanteuse mexicaine, producteur et acteur adulé dans toute la culture latine. Les employés commencent bientôt pour traiter Rex comme la célébrité, il a toujours rêvé d'être.
