Notes on a Scandal, film en français - Barbara (Judi Dench) est un enseignant despotique et solitaire qui gouverne sa classe avec une poigne de fer dans une école secondaire publique vétuste à Londres. Elle vit seule avec son chat, Portia, n'a pas d'amis, mais sa vie subit un changement radical quand elle rencontre Sheba Hart (Cate Blanchett), le nouveau professeur d'art à l'école attrayante. Barbara voit en elle l'âme soeur et un ami fidèle qui a toujours été à la recherche. Mais quand elle découvre que Sheba entretient une liaison torride avec une de ses jeunes élèves (Andrew Simpson), l'amitié naissante donne une tournure inquiétante, comme Barbara menace de dire le mari de tout Sheba (Bill Nighy) et le monde.
