Grâce à des images et des entrevues avec des musiciens tels que Dee Dee Ramone et Sylvain Sylvain archive, le film détaille son séjour avec les poupées, la formation de son autre groupe, les Heartbreakers; son ascension vers la gloire, en particulier au Japon; sa descente dans dépendance à l'héroïne, et les circonstances mystérieuses de sa mort.
